Allen has composed and performed in various big bands (Jazz Composers Alliance), ensembles led by guest artists (Maria Schneider, Sam Rivers, Gunther Schuller, Marian McPartland, Donald Byrd), and master classes with Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry, and Jimmy Heath. As a member of New England Foundation for the Arts' Massachusetts Cultural Council Performing and Touring Roster, Allen performs with well-known local jazz artists (Patrice Williamson, John Lockwood, Frank Wilkins, and Alan Chase). Allen performs regularly with AllenHazFunk and other combinations in the Boston area.
